David Becker held the roles of Director of Technical Assistance and Training and Director Typologies at the Asia Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) Secretariat between 2014 and 2023. APG is an FATF-Style Regional Body (FSRB) for the Asia/Pacific region with 42 member jurisdictions. As Director, Typologies from 2014 -2017, he co-led global and regional projects on human trafficking with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), wildlife trafficking with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and social media and terrorism financing, amongst others. As Director of APG’s Technical Assistance (TA) program from 2017 - 2023, his area coordinated and partnered with 36 international organizations and jurisdictions in the provision of TA across the region. While at APG, he conducted five mutual evaluations (4 as leader) of countries against the FATF global standards.

Mr Becker’s previous experience in this sector includes his work at AUSTRAC, Australia’s anti-money laundering regulator and financial intelligence unit, where he held a range of senior positions from 2006 to 2014 including Director International Technical Assistance & Training (where he coordinated eight international capacity building assistance programs that worked with approximately 50 countries across Asia, the Pacific and Africa). Before that, Mr Becker worked for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) as well as in the financial services and telecommunications industries. Mr Becker has a Master of Science in Organizational Psychology.
