Former Federal Senior Executive Leader with over 34 years of experience in law enforcement, international trade, international policy development and standard setting. 

Winner of the 2021 Service to America Award for Safety, Security and International Affairs and the People’s Choice Award. 2022 DHS Secretary -Exceptional Service Gold Medal Award recipient. Recently retired from DHS- Customs and Border Protection (CBP)(2021).

Ana Hinojosa is from South Texas and has had an illustrious career in the U.S. federal government and with the World Customs Organization (WCO) in Brussels, Belgium.

She is a seasoned Customs expert and Senior Executive, having served in many leadership positions in Customs for over 30 years.  Most recently, she was responsible for directing CBP’s trade threat assessment units, special investigations, and enforcement programs focused on detecting, deterring and disrupting illicit trade, with a special emphasis on forced labor violations, evasion of special tariff cases and modernizing the use of civil penalties to ensure appropriate consequence delivery for non-compliance.

During her time as an elected official at the WCO, she led the directorate responsible for assisting the 183 Members in implementing effective and efficient controls, ensuring fair and accurate revenue collection, and protecting society by intercepting the suppression of illicit and criminal activities. She promoted the twin goals of securing and facilitating legitimate global supply chains through the simplification and harmonization of Customs Procedures by developing international standards and managing several international conventions. She also engaged with many multilateral organizations, including those considered UN Agencies.

She has provided lectures in various academic institutions and for professional continuing education, including Georgetown Law (Washington, D.C.), Universidad Catolica de Cordoba (Argentina), and the Naval Postgraduate School (Monterrey, CA).  She has also been a public speaker/panelist and moderator at dozens of national and international events.

Ana is a current member and Past President of Executive Women in Government, which is an organization that focuses on helping women in middle-upper level management positions reach the Senior Executive Service level positions in the federal government. She also serves as a mentor.

She is fluent in English and Spanish, and speaks some French.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Texas A&M International, completed an Executive Development Program through Columbia University Graduate School of Business, and a Masters in Business Administration from Texas A&M - Commerce.

She is now the President and Principal Consultant at ABH Global Trade Consulting LLC.    She is also an Advisory Board Member for the Border Security EXPO and Breakthrough T1D.  Ana was also selected to serve on the Trade Facilitation Commission in the United Kingdom.
